Hi there, welcome!
As I am sure you are, I am a multifaceted human with many passions and quirks. I have often called myself a Jack of all trades because I love dipping my toe into all kinds of endeavors. This is my biggest, most committed endeavor yet - starting a coaching business from scratch. So here's some background.
I graduated from McMaster University with an Honours BA in English and Religious Studies (World Religions) with the hopes of becoming a high school guidance counselor, all the while bartending and organizing events to pay my bills. If you are familiar with the trade, you may know what great practice bartending is for such a dream.
After graduating and gaining a TESOL certificate from Oxford Seminars, in order to ensure teaching was the right path for me and pay off some student debt, I travelled to South Korea to teach English to children and adults of all ages. Here, I was able to become a mentor as well as learn from people who grew up in a totally different way than me. I lived in Seoul for a year and gained experiences and points of view I may never have otherwise. When I came home, I was drawn towards teaching the youngest of the littles - Preschool.
I have spent over six years in childcare, spending time in classrooms with six month olds all the way to five year olds, eventually gaining RECE status through Mohawk College and switching to a management role. We taught through the pandemic, and were required to build this resiliency that may have gone unnoticed or brushed off before. Although teaching is so incredibly rewarding, burnout in this field is high, and I recognized that not only in my peers, but I could see it in my own future. I wanted to build something where I would be able to support, mentor and hold space for individuals who struggle with who they are and who they want to become. I had been helping my peers, friend and family, as well as myself through this journey of being an active participant in my own life and not living on auto-pilot; I wanted to make sure I could continue doing that forever.
First, I studied to be a Nutrition Coach (with Nutraphoria), with the intention of supporting people specifically with body image. Once I finished my studies, I realized that the scope of my work would be much wider. Helping people to feel confident in themselves as they are, means that the are able to advocate to their boss when they want a raise. Or they are able to build a stronger relationship with their sibling, without needing to change who the other person is. Or they are able to move cities, dress differently, or just spend time in ways that make them happy.
I say I'm a Jack of all trades because I am a forever learner, and I use a multitude of experiences to continue to help others and do inner work. I love to play hockey, do kickboxing and yoga, hike and camp with my loved ones, read, write, and figure out the occasional complicated recipe. I teach others to live a joyful, confident life, and I do my best to live by example.
That's enough about me - I would love to learn more about you!
